Secure Anti-Malware ranked first in proactive detection test
June 19th, 2008
Independent AV-Test GmbH released new test results of proactive detection and overall vendor response times. These tests are based on the WildList Organization malware samples for the first quarter of 2008. As the people at AV-Test keep track of every single signature update released by any Anti-Malware vendor, they’re able to tell which product first detected particular malware samples for any given time frame in the past. The Q1 2008 test set consists of all the new malware samples which were reported by at least two independent WildList Reporters.
During the test, the Secure Anti-Malware Engine detected a number of 152 out of 156 samples (97,4%), placing itself at position 1. The resulting average response time was as low as 6,43 hours, which is remarkably fast (again, Anti-Malware ranked first).
The level of proactive detection is an important indicator to demonstrate how good our customers are protected from new and unknown threats. With (currently) 650,000 new unique malware samples per month, both sound Proactive detection capabilities and quick response times are crucial. Proactive detection minimizes the number of detection signatures that need to be added for new malware samples, and thus adds to quick overall response times.
